Handmade Wardrobe Plans – Winter 2025

Hello, Snazzie People!

I wanted to share my Winter 2025 wardrobe sewing plans with you. I’ve picked out some colors that I am excited to wear as well as some great patterns. Some of the patterns are repeats, while others are new to me and even newly released. Enjoy and let me know if you’ve sewn any of these patterns.

Winter 2025 Colors

While I don’t use a capsule wardrobe, I do like the idea of dressing in a seasonal color pallet. I like to choose three neutral colors and three wardrobe colors. This year, I decided on white, black, and gray for my neutrals and plum, teal green, and light blue for my wardrobe colors. I have found some problems finding plum and teal green, so some of my items may lean more towards purple and jade green.

Winter 2025 Sewing Plans

Flannel Shirt

If you saw my Fall 2024 sewing plans, you have noticed that I made a flannel shirt for fall as well. I love flannel shirts. They’re soft and colorful and are easy to just throw on over a t-shirt for instant layering and warmth. For Winter 2025, I’ll be again using Simplicity S1538 and I plan to make the shirt out of plum (berry) colored fabric I picked up from my local Joann.

Blue Striped Button Up

I’ve been needing a nice button-up shirt that I can wear formally or casually under a sweater. I’m using Butterick B6852 for the pattern and am making View B. This pattern is also a repeat from my Fall 2024 plans where I made a jade green sateen shirt that will make its way into my winter wardrobe.
The fabric is Italian cotton, which I got from Cali Fabrics.

White Johnny Collar Shirt

This is another sewing pattern repeat from Fall 2024. McCall’s M8240 is one of my favorite patterns. I love a collared knit top to wear as an elevated knit top or sweatshirt.
The fabric is the same light French terry that I used to make the green top in my Fall 2024 wardrobe, this time in white. I got this fabric from Cali Fabrics.

Light Blue Sweatshirt

I’ll be making a simple sweatshirt using the Juno Sweatshirt pattern from Sinclair Patterns. I’ve made this pattern a few times, and it’s a great pattern and an easy make. The thing I really like about Sinclair patterns is that all their patterns come in Regular, Tall, and Petite options. I always sew the tall patterns so I don’t have to adjust the sleeves.

The fabric is a light blue space-dyed sweatshirt fabric from Cali Fabrics.

Light Blue Lady Jacket

McCall’s M8474 is a new pattern for me, but I have been thinking about making a jacket like this for over a year. I kept putting it off because I would have had to find a way to hack a pattern to make the neckline. While I do enjoy pattern hacking, I am happy that this pattern came out.

The fabric is a light blue bull denim from Cali Fabrics.

Plum Corduroy Jacket

I’ll be using the Atenas Jacket pattern from Itch to Stitch to make a denim-style jacket out of corduroy. This will be the second time I’ve made this jacket. The other is a bright green small wale corduroy jacket I made in the spring.

The fabric is a plum corduroy I thrifted up at my local Goodwill a couple of years ago. There were two large cuts of this fabric, and I picked up both with at least a jacket in mind.

Cropped Cardigan Jacket

This is another Itch to Stitch pattern. The Teifi Cardigan is one of her newer releases. It has the look of a structured jacket, but it’s made for knits.

I thought this sweater knit in black, teal, and white houndstooth from Cali Fabric would be perfect for this pattern.

White and Gray Floral Bow Blouse

The moment I saw this fabric on the Cali Fabrics website I thought of Vogue V9029 ViewF. I have had this pattern for several years but have never made it. I’m looking forward to making this.

Green Button-Shoulder Sweater

Butterick B6857 is a good option for some beyond basic sweaters. I plan to make View A with the buttoned shoulders but the hemline and sleeves of View B.

The fabric is a teal and black sweater knit from Cali Fabrics.

Gray Waffle Knit Long Sleeved Tee and Green Rib Knit Long Sleeved Tee

My original intent was to make myself some henleys with this gray waffle knit and green rib knit from Cali Fabrics but I don’t have a henley pattern I like and I would have had to do some pattern hacking so I decided to just opt for some quick wins and I’m going to make a couple of long-sleeved t-shirts using the Keep It Simple Babe pattern from Pattern Emporium.

Purple Vest (Bonus)

When I was making my plans, I had originally planned to make the McCall’s M8504 shirt style jacket pattern. I found this purple stretch suiting fabric at Fabric Mart at a deep discount.

Unfortunately, the fabric is a little too drapey for a structured jacket so I might try making a vest using McCall’s M8350 After that, I will still have plenty of fabric left over from other projects later.

This list should definitely keep me busy for a while. I do plan to share my finished items so please stay tuned.

Do you have any winter sewing plans?

Are you planning to make any of the items on the list, or have you already made some of these patterns?

Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Sewing and Happy New Year!

Kelly.
